Another derby match between Chelsea and Arsenal ends in a goalless draw.
Here are 3 quick thoughts on the game:
CHELSEA REGRESS, ARSENAL PROGRESS:
For Chelsea, the goalless draw ends our winning run and momentum towards the title defence. This surely puts us behind the Manchester clubs and does harm our huge ambitions a little. For Arsenal, it’s a path to redemption for Arsene Wenger’s Gunners after consecutive defeats to Stoke City and Liverpool. On the flip side, the goalless draw is a positive result for Arsenal than Chelsea.
CHELSEA FAILURE TO TOTALLY DOMINATE PLAYED TO ARSENAL’S ADVANTAGE:
This was a match of missed chances for both sides. Chelsea chances for Pedro, Hazard, Fabregas could have had telling impact in this encounter, while Arsenal chances for Lacazette, Kolasinac and Ramsey could also have had an impact in the game. Chelsea’s positive start on the attack was promising, but lacked the finesse in the attacking third that would have given us apre positive result.
BAKAYOKO OVER FABREGAS AS KANTE’S PARTNER:
The surprise decision to drop Bakayoko to the bench in favour of Fabregas was telling. The French midfielder’s brief spell on the pitch gave the team the balance that was absent in the first half. For all of Fabregas’ qualities, his inability to control games in defensive areas is worrisome. In view of this, Bakayoko deserves to be given the starting point to forge a potent partnership with Kante.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
