Another big game for Chelsea and negative outcome again for the club. This is our second defeat of the season. Here are 3 match analysis:
DEFENSIVE CHELSEA BEATEN BY PROACTIVE CITY:
In the battle of wits between Chelsea and Pep Guardiola, the Blues have triumphed more. The stage was set for another epic battle after Chelsea won both home and away against the Spaniard’s City team. Surprisingly, Conte opted for a defensive lineup against City’s artistes. After soaking up City’s attacking pressure, finally Kevin De Bruyne scored the winning goal. It’s a painful reality that Conte’s cantenaccio (defensive approach) let Chelsea down. A more attacking display might have given Chelsea a chance of victory or share of the spoils.
CHELSEA LACK ATTACKING OPTIONS:
The strength of the Manchester teams is enormous. Chelsea are void of attacking forte that can give us a cutting edge to compete against our rivals. The upgrade of attacking firepower at both City and United need to be replicated at Chelsea to provide the team with upgraded options in attacking areas.
MORATA’S INJURY A BIG WORRY:
Alvaro Morata had to exit the game in the first half after picking up a hamstring injury and this would worry many Chelsea fans after the excellent start to his Chelsea career. With Michy Batshuayi yet to fully convince, Chelsea and Conte will only hope for Morata’s speedy recovery.
