Chelsea players are well represented in the quest for individual honours one month after the opening of the new season.
Chelsea academy defender Ethan Ampadu has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August.
The highly rated 16-year-old signed from Exeter City in July and has played every minute of our development squad league campaign and has been magnificent in his role, contributing to clean sheets against Manchester City and Derby County. The young Blues currently sit sixth in the table after four points from their opening three matches, and Ampadu has been chosen for recognition.
He is up against Kyle Edwards (West Brom), Hamza Choudhury (Leicester), Joe Nuttall (Blackburn), George Williams (Fulham), Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough), Kellan Gordon (Derby) and Reiss Nelson (Arsenal). The shortlist was selected by a panel of the Premier League Football Development Department after PL2 managers had nominated the best individual performance from each of their opponents during August.
