Up next for Chelsea is Leicester City, and the thrilling thing about the fixture is that it will be Danny Drinkwater’s first game as a Chelsea player, and it will be away at the King Power Stadium – a ground he just left on transfer deadline day.

Speaking about the encounter, there was no sentiments in the mind of Drinkwater who’s looking forward to taking the three points against his former club.

He told the official Chelsea website: “I don’t know what the odds on that were. Hopefully I will get a good reception but I am a Chelsea player now so will be looking for three points.”

Speaking about Leicester City’s to title-winning campaign where Drinkwater scored an audacious shot from far out to seal a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Drinkwater said: “Yeah, I scored the goal and I remember we went on out after the game and it was a good day. We didn’t want to lose, we were on a streak of not losing a game so that was like a cherry on the cake.”

Another interesting fixture to look forward to for Drinkwater is an away trip to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League – the team that knocked his former side out of the Champions League, in the quarterfinal stage.

Drinkwater told the official Chelsea website: “Yes, less than six months ago. The away leg was at their old stadium but I am sure the new stadium will be just as great a place to play football and they will be a tough team to face, but no doubt we will be well-prepared for it. I am looking forward to having a real go at them and hopefully we will get the better of them this time.”
