Chelsea signed Danny Drinkwater for a fee of around £35 million from Leicester City, but the former Leicester midfielder is yet to kick a ball for the Blues following his deadline day move.

The new Chelsea midfielder will have to wait until October to make his debut for the Blues.

Drinkwater has been having some muscular issues that have kept him out since he made his move to Stamford Bridge and Antonio Conte in his press conference ahead of his Chelsea’s clash against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday revealed it won’t take until October for Drinkwater to return.

Conte said: “He had a muscular problem in his calf. He needs time to recover. I think it is very difficult to see him before the international break. It is a pity because he was starting to work and to improve his physical condition.

“Now we have to move all these situations. And in two, three weeks, four weeks, I don’t know.”
