Former Chelsea defender Graeme Le Saux believes Chelsea’s weakness this season is at the back. Le Saux believes Arsenal can get at Chelsea if the Gunners pull Chelsea’s central defenders out wide.
“Arsenal’s movement can create chances,” Le Saux told Betfair.
“Scoring goals has clearly not been a problem this season but they haven’t quite matched last year’s excellence in defence.
“All teams have a weakness and while I am not going to single out any one player, Chelsea’s problems are at the back at the moment.
“They have conceded the highest total out of all the teams in the current top seven. Arsenal can have some joy if they draw out the centre backs to wide areas and get in behind, and encouragingly for the visitors that is one of their strengths.
“Chelsea have used their physicality to brilliant effect against Arsenal in the past and while Costa’s absence obviously lessens that, I still think the Blues will outmuscle the visitors across the park.
“Chelsea obviously have the advantage of two days extra rest, and all the off-field distractions of Thursday night’s game against Cologne won’t help Arsenal.
“Defensive issues mean Arsenal should get a chance to score but Chelsea’s attack is potent and I fancy the home side to win 2-1 or 3-1.”
