Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has challenged Eden Hazard to fulfil his potential in the Champions League this season.
Lampard admits Hazard has performed at a high level for Chelsea domestically but he wants the Belgian to do the same in the Champions League for Chelsea.
“He’s a huge player for them,” Lampard said on BT Sport.
“Now he’s 26, it is his time on the biggest stage in club football to do it.
“He’s done it in the Premier League very much, he’s done bits and starts in the Champions League.
“But I think this is the year for him to really show what he can do.
“When he’s at his best, I think we saw him consistently at his best last year, he runs so directly at defenders.
“There are not many players who do that, he goes straight at them, his centre of gravity is so low, he’s strong, his backside goes into players, his movement from side to side, he’s not scared of anyone and he can really make things happen.
“But as I say, Eden Hazard now needs to do that at this level.
“Now you’re seeing him centrally he is getting more goals.
“But when you’re looking at the top players that we keep trying to compare him to, that next step is to do it at this level.”
