Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a peripheral figure for Chelsea in the Premier League last season and made just six appearances in the league.
The 21-year-old who is now on loan to Crystal Palace is regarded as one of England’s hottest prospects.
However, Loftus-Cheek says he hasn’t been told by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte that he features in his long-term plans.
When asked if the Italian chief has told him he’ll get his chance at Chelsea next season, Loftus-Cheek said: “Not at all.
“But I don’t think it’s right to because you never know how I’ll perform this season. So, right now I’m just literally focused on Palace.
“He [Conte] said I need to play games. Chelsea is a big club and there’s a lot of pressure which I understand.
“For me, I think it was the right time for me to go away from Chelsea right now and get my game time elsewhere.”
Palace are yet to claim a point this season having lost all five games which led to the sack of Frank De Boer, but the Chelsea youngster insists he’s having a good time with his loan club.
“I’m really just enjoying playing, that’s the main thing for me at the moment,” added Loftus-Cheek who was speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 18.
“I just want to play as many games as possible and improve.
“For me right now I’m happy. I know we haven’t made the best of starts, but we have to try and fight – and I want to stay and fight with Palace.
“It’s good for Roy to come in, and as players we think we’re going to turn it around.
“As players we need to believe that. No one says it’s going to be easy, but we’re going to work hard on the training pitch every day and I truly think we have the capability to turn things around.
“It’s a good squad, we just need to bring the best out of them.”
