Kick-off: Saturday, 23 September, 2017. 14:00 GMT
Venue: Bet365 Stadium
It’s Match Week 6, and Chelsea will be away to Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.
Heading into this week’s round of fixtures, Chelsea are 3rd on the Premier League table with 10 points, while Stoke City are 13th with 5 points.
Stoke City are in poor form as they are yet to win a match in all competitions this September. The last time the Potters got a win was exactly one month ago a 4-0 win over Rochdale in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
While Chelsea won their League Cup game against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, Stoke City lost to Bristol City, and they even lost their last Premier League game – suffering a 2-1 loss away at Newcastle.
Chelsea defeated Stoke City home and away last season, and the last time the two sides met, Chelsea defeated Stoke 2-1 at the Bet365 Stadium on the 17th of March 2017.
The last six league meetings between the two sides have seen Chelsea run out victors 4 times and one draw and a 1-0 defeat at the then Britannia Stadium just two seasons ago, in what was a nightmare season for Chelsea.
Eden Hazard is expected to start the game after making his first Chelsea start this season on Wednesday, completing 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest.
David Luiz is suspended for the game, following a red card against Arsenal but Temoue Bakayoko should be available despite a minor car accident on Thursday, and Pedro is fit after a leg injury.
Stoke have a poor record against Chelsea and have won only two of their 18 Premier League matches against the Blues, with both victories coming at home: 3-2 in December 2013 and 1-0 in November 2015.
The Potters have been beaten 13 times by Chelsea in the Premier League, their worst record against any club in the division.
Stoke City are in terrible form and have managed only three wins in their last 16 Premier League matches. The Blues on the other hand are in good form and have won seven of their past eight away matches in the league.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will be wary of another red card as he has seen his men receive five red cards in their previous nine games in all competitions.
My prediction: It will be a difficult game away at Stoke, but Chelsea will carry the day. Stoke City 1 vs 2 Chelsea
