Not the game we were expecting as Manchester City clipped our wings right at Stamford Bridge as they took all three points winning the game 1-0.

See how the players fared during the game:

Courtois: Made a couple of saves to keep Chelsea in the game, but there was little he could do to stop a Kevin De Bruyne 67th minute goal. 6/10

Rudiger: Solid performance from the German international. Never made a mistake and was assured on the ball. Blocked a shot that could have led to a goal in the second-half. 7/10

Christensen: Didn’t play like a youngster. Very mature performance in defence. Unlucky to be on the losing side. 7/10

Cahill: Faced a lot of pressure from the City attack, but was able to hold his ground. Solid performance. 6/10

Azpilicueta: Played as a right wing-back. Solid while defending but couldn’t push the Chelsea attack from the right flank. There was no creativity going forward. 6/10

Alonso: There were times he could have done better while going forward. Didn’t do many wrong either as he faced a lot of pressure from the City attack. 5.5/10

Kante: Worked hard for the team, but lost a lot of possession at times. 6/10

Fabregas: Had some good spells and also drifted off for most part of the game. 5.5/10

Bakayoko: Started the game in bright fashion but lost steam later in the game. 5.5/10

Hazard: Started brightly but faded away from the game after Morata went off through injury in the 35th minute. Starved off the ball and looked very frustrated much of the time. 5/10

Morata: Looked very lively and threatened City’s defence before he limped off in the 35th minute.

Willian: Replaced the injured Morata after 35 minutes and worked really hard for the team against City who dominated possession. 6/10

Batshuayi: Replaced Bakayako in the 72nd minute and provided a focal point that was missing since Morata went off through injury. His introduction brought a spark to the Chelsea attack, but it wasn’t enough. 6/10

Pedro: Came on in the 72nd minute for Hazard. Worked hard and brought life to the Chelsea attack in the final quarter of the game. 6/10

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.

  1. Hazard deserves more marks. He’s always the pearl in our team. In a situation where the mid-field was cut-off and the attackers were not fed with the ball, i wonder what we expected from Hazard and Morata (before he got injured). Why didn’t Conte replace Morata with either Pedro or Batshuayi? And why didn’t he rejig the team’s formation when it became evident that ManCity had dominated the mid-field? Our defenders also made the mistake of static defence and always retreating into our 18 yards box with threatening ManCity attackers. Conte did not impress me.
