It was a comfortable game for Chelsea in the opening day of the Champions League – and the Chelsea players were excellent in their 3-0 win over Azerbaijan side Qarabag.

See how the players fared:

Courtois: Was on holiday all through the game. Easy night for the goalkeeper. 6/10

Azpilicueta: Rock solid in central defence and even scored a header. 8.5/10

Christensen: Very composed game in the office for the young Dane. His composure is worthy of commendation. 7.5/10

Cahill (c): The captain is back and had a good game against Qarabag. The only blemish to his game is the yellow card he was issued early on for a rash tackle. 7.5/10

Zappacosta: Had a good game in his first start for Chelsea and got a goal and an assist. Went forward at will. 8.5/10

Alonso: Was in his traditional left wing-back position and he did Just fine. 7.5/10

Kante: Was his usual energetic self today and helped his team in midfield. 8/10

Fabregas: Didn’t get a goal but his passing was exquisite. Assisted Azpilicueta’s headed goal with a wonderful ball into the Qarabag box 18. 8.5/10

Willian: Unlucky not to score. He hit the post, worked hard, beat the Qarabag defence countless times. 8.5/10

Pedro: Started the goal feast for Chelsea with an audacious shot and had a good game before his eventual substitution. 8.5/10

Batshuayi: Was on the starting team for the Blues and also was on target, scoring his first Champions League goal. 8/10

Hazard: Replaced Pedro just after 57 minutes as he continues to boost his match sharpness. Still not yet to his standard we know him for, but he was still very dangerous. 6.5/10

Bakayako: Replaced Kante with 27 minutes left and it was enough for him to score a goal and get an assist. 7.5/10

Rudiger: Came on for Azpilicueta very late in the game

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
