Willian has started the season in amazing form. The 29-year-old lost his shirt to Pedro last season as the Spain international looked better than him almost all through the entire season. But it would take something extra for Pedro to beat Willian to the starting spot this season as the Brazilian looks like he’s on fire.
The Brazilian has played excellently since the start of the season and was compared to his team-mate Eden Hazard by Martin Keown on Match of the Day at the weekend, as the former Arsenal defender believes he’s playing at the level of Eden Hazard.
David Woods of the Daily Star shared the same sentiments with Keown and also admitted that Willian’s level is higher than last season.
He wrote in his column: “The Brazilian seems to have gone up a gear this campaign with boss Antonio Conte at last appearing to recognise what an amazing talent he inherited when he took over last summer.
“Willian was just about the only player to perform for Chelsea as Jose Mourinho lost the plot two seasons ago, having been voted club player of the year when they won the title.
“The 29-year-old looks even more comfortable on the ball, is producing extra tricks and was rightly compared to his team-mate Eden Hazard by Martin Keown on Match of the Day at the weekend.”
