While Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has chosen to be modest and has said he won’t underestimate Champions League newcomers Qarabag, Qarabag boss Gurban Gurbanov has said his team isn’t afraid of Chelsea.
Conte said: “Qarabag are a good team. It is the first time they play in this Champions League. I know some of the players well as we played against Azerbaijan when I was Italy coach.”
Qarabag boss Gurban Gurbanov said: “We’re not scared of any of them.
“Even though Chelsea is an icon in the Champions League and have a big chance to win the tournament this season, the team is ready and we’re going to play until the end.
“We know Chelsea are going to make us be defensive. That doesn’t mean we’re going to spend 90 minutes in defence. We’re going to attack as well.”
Both sides will face each other in the Champions League tonight as our group kicks off today, with Roma hosting Atletico Madrid tonight in the other group game.
