Chelsea star Eden Hazard started the Champions League game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, and the 26-year-old was at his best as he had the most successful dribbles in the game and assisted Alvaro Morata for his equaliser in the Chelsea victory.
It was just his second start of the season and Conte has admitted that Hazard is an important player for the team.
The Chelsea boss told the press today: “For us, Hazard is an important player. Last season he had an important season. He played very well. He performed as a top player (does) and worked a lot to have a really good season. Now we managed really well his recovery, with respect to playing him at the right time to give him a start in a big game.
“Sometimes the players don’t have patience, but the coach and the staff have to try and take the best decision for the player, the team and the club to be sure that, now, the injury is in the past for him. Now he’s fit. He played a really good game against Atletico Madrid. I’m very happy for him.”
Asked if Hazard is now fit to play two games in four days, Conte who has rested Hazard for much of the season said: “But I think Eden, if he was able to play one game like the Atletico game, it means he’s ready now to play with continuity. But I have to try and make the best decision for the team, not only for the player.”
