Diego Costa has now completed his move to Atletico Madrid as both clubs announce that they have reached an agreement on Thursday.
Costa, who scored 59 goals in 120 games for Chelsea and won two Premier League titles, will join Atletico for £58m.
His transfer will take effect from January 1st due to the transfer embargo placed on Atletico Madrid.
Costa told Atletico’s website: “I’m very happy to return home, I’ve always said it, Atletico is my home, I’m very, very happy.”
He then expressed his gratitude to Atletico for making the deal happen as he said: “I’m looking forward to start contributing. I’m going to give my all for the team, as I always try to do.
“I’m very grateful to everyone… the whole club for making this move forward.”
