Chelsea made six signings during the summer transfer window, but the Blues had to settle for second-best options as Chelsea transfer chiefs weren’t able to secure the major players Antonio Conte wanted.

The worst part of the transfer window is the fact a number of players snubbed a move to Chelsea and the Blues missed out on some signings and had to do two transfer deadline day signings.

Chelsea missed out on Alex Sandro and were unable to sign a left wing-back before the close of the window. Chelsea were beaten to the signing of Romelu Lukaku by Manchester United as well as Danilo by Manchester City.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley snubbed a move to Chelsea, while Fernando Llorente opted for Tottenham.

Reports claim Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants answers over Chelsea’s miserable transfer window and that Antonio Conte isn’t too happy that some targets weren’t signed.

Directors Marina Granovskaia and Michael Emenalo are in charge of the club’s transfer policy, and they’d have to explain certain decisions to the Chelsea owner.
