Atakan Akkaynak is a lad on the rise, as the youngster is being observed by top European clubs around the world.

And Chelsea have joined the race in watching Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Atakan Akkaynak, according to Goal.

The German U19 defensive midfielder is also being tracked by Roma and has since been monitored by the Catalans and has many scouts looking at him.

He captained the German U17s and U18s before moving into the U19s, making his debut against Switzerland for the German U19 in a 0-0 draw.

Akkaynak is yet to play for Leverkusen’s first team in the Bundesliga but he has been promoted to train with the first team squad this season and could be making his debut soon.

He’s eligible to play for Germany and Turkey.
