Atletico Madrid were unable to secure the signing of Diego Costa before the close of the transfer window as the striker revealed his desire to move back to Spain and join his former club.
With the deal not happening before transfer deadline day, Atletico have now advised Costa to return to west London, according to reports.
Costa fell out with Antonio Conte at the start of the transfer window and the Blues boss told the forward via text message that he’s not a part of his plans for the 2017/18 season. And the Chelsea boss went on to sign Alvaro Morata in his stead.
Atletico are still interested in signing Costa in the January transfer window and have told Costa to return to Stamford Bridge to make peace with the club in order to help make things easier. They also want him fit before the next transfer window.
