Diego Costa is set to complete his transfer to Atletico Madrid after Chelsea agreed a fee with the La Liga side on Thursday.
According to former England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce, Eden Hazard will miss Costa because they were almost telepathic last season on the pitch.
“I’m sad to see him leave these shores because I think he’s been sensational over the last few years. I know some people don’t like his mannerisms on a football pitch,” Pearce told Sky Sports.
“I think him and Hazard, Hazard might miss him a lot. I think they were almost telepathic last year the way they played, the interaction between the two.”
Pearce also believes the decision to sell Costa is a gamble of which the result won’t be known until further down the line.
“If [Alvaro] Morata does well you won’t spare a thought for Costa,” Pearce added.
“If Chelsea fail to deliver and win nothing you will look at this decision and ask if it was the right one.”
