Antonio Conte went into Chelsea’s last Premier League game against Arsenal hoping to end the game with 11 men, but a David Luiz red card towards the end of the game meant Chelsea had to play a man down against Arsenal yet again – a feat that occurred in the FA Cup final in May and the Community Shield game at the start of the season.
Chelsea have a scary red card stat as the Blues have received five red cards in their previous nine games in all competitions.
From the FA Cup final in May to the goalless draw against Arsenal, Chelsea have received three red cards against Arsenal alone.
On the opening Premier League game of the season against Burnley, Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were also shown the red card in that game.
Hopefully, Chelsea will find better luck with the referees from now on.
