Chelsea signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid during the summer, as he was signed for a record fee of £60m with add-ons that could make it rise to £70m.
Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who was the previous record signing, believes Chelsea have signed one of the world’s best strikers in the person of Alvaro Morata.
Morata admitted that he sought the advice of his fellow Spaniard Torres before signing for Chelsea.
And Torres has now revealed what he told the Chelsea summer recruit.
The former Chelsea star said: “I spoke with him (Morata) before he joined Chelsea and told him I would be always on the phone if he needed any advice or if I could help him.
“Looking at the start he has made it doesn’t look like he needs any advice at all – already he is playing well and scoring goals.
“Chelsea have one of the best strikers in Europe – and I am sure he is going to win trophies with them.”
Torres is currently at Atletico Madrid and will be up against his former club, Chelsea.
