Chelsea signed Italy international Davide Zappacosta from Torino on transfer deadline day, and the 25-year-old has admitted he’s happy about joining Chelsea and wants to make the fans proud.
He told the official Chelsea website: “It’s been an unusual day but at the same time it’s the best day of my life. It’s a great opportunity for me to come to Chelsea and grow in my career. Obviously I’m ecstatic. Everything went well and I’m really happy to be here. I want to make the supporters very proud.”
Speaking about his relationship with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte who gave him his debut in the Italian national team, Zappacosta said: “I know him a little. I trained with him for a few weeks when I played for the national team under him and from that small experience I gathered, he was a great manager who is always hungry for victory and wants to improve and progress, which is very good for the players because he can convey that philosophy to us.”
He also revealed his excitement of playing in the Champions League.
He said: “I’m very excited about that because it’s every footballer’s dream to be a part of the Champions League. It will be a big challenge but I’m ready for it and I will do my best.”
