Antonio Conte’s training methods have come under criticism this season as the Blues have suffered a number of injury problems already.

Recent media reports from England even claim that the players are unhappy with having to do so much physical work in training, as Conte’s training regime is said to be very demanding.

Chelsea left wing-back Marcos Alonso has come to the defence of his manager.

He told Marca: “Conte is a hard trainer, who likes to work on the physical and tactical aspect.

“When you are training you suffer, but then you thank him in the field.

“When we were champions last season, I do not think anyone complained about how much we had to run.”
