Chelsea Ladies started their first European outing at our new home of Kingsmeadow in good form by defeating German giants Bayern Munich courtesy of a Drew Spence goal.

The result didn’t come easy for the Chelsea Ladies and is a good one for Emma Hayes’s side in the Women’s Champions League, in what is the third season in the competition.

Spence returned to the starting line-up to face Bayern as Hayes made three changes from the weekend win over Sunderland, and her 10th minute goal was enough for Chelsea to take all three points.

The second leg will be played in Bavaria next Wednesday night.
