Alvaro Morata didn’t have a good game against Marco Silva’s rejuvenated Watford side as their defence kept the Chelsea striker quiet.

Conte had to take off Morata and bring on Michy Batshuayi just after 60 minutes and Conte believes Morata’s anonymous display could be down to fatigue and his return from injury.

Conte said: “I think we tried to manage the situation. I tried to change something [with the subs] but don’t forget Alvaro played two days ago.

“He played the whole game and now today. Alvaro is coming back from an injury. His commitment was good but for sure he has to find a good form after an injury but it was good to play the previous game and this game.”
