N’Golo Kante has not played for the Blues since the beginning of October after suffering injury while on international duty with France.
The France international has now resumed training and has recovered quicker than expected, as it was feared at first that he wouldn’t be back until after the next international break.
However, Conte has revealed that he could play on Tuesday night in the Champions League and ahead of the massive clash with Manchester United next Sunday.
Asked if Kante will be fit for Roma, Conte said: “I hope. I hope. He could be ready. But you know very well the importance of this player. I want to be sure he is ready. Honestly, I hope to have him in this game. But I’d prefer not to take a risk. If he’s ready, he plays.
“We started this season with a lot of problems: starting in the summer with Hazard’s surgery [he’s a top player, and was one of the best players last season]; then an injury to Pedro; then two red cards for our players and an injury for Kante with the national team; then Moses.
“We faced a lot of problems. But we stay there. We try to do our best in every moment. Today it was important: a good win, also because the other teams all won, apart from Tottenham who lost. The other top teams won.”
