Summer signing Danny Drinkwater is yet to make his Chelsea debut after being out injured since September.

The midfielder recently returned to training but how close is he to making his Chelsea debut?

Drinkwater might not make his Chelsea debut anytime soon after Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed it might take 35 or 40 days before the midfielder gets to full fitness.

“Danny is progressing well. Now he has started to work, not with us but he has started to work in a part of the session with us,” Conte said.

“Now it’s very important for him to progress well and improve his physical condition. But I think he is progressing well.

“First of all, I think it’s very important to recover him very well. If I try to put him on the pitch I will risk a player without good fitness, and then risk another injury.

“Now, I repeat, and maybe after 35 or 40 days, we must still have patience. Then to wait for the right moment for him. The player is frustrated with this situation because he wants to play, but we must have patience and wait there for the moment.”
