Alvaro Morata is a man in form and was unfortunate to have suffered a muscle injury against Manchester City that led to his 35th minute withdrawal from the game.
Antonio Conte decided to keep Michy Batshuayi on the bench despite Morata’s injury as he brought in Willian for Morata and Eden Hazard played through the middle instead.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed his shock at Conte’s decision as he told old Match of the Day: “I think they’ve got more than enough quality, you can’t be too concerned for Chelsea.
“But when you’ve got a striker [Batshuayi] on the bench, when you lose your striker [Morata], and you’ve got somebody on the bench who scored a goal against Atletico Madrid in the week, and he doesn’t come on, you’d [Conte] rather put Hazard up top… I think that’s worrying, not only for Batshuayi, but I think that’s a bit worrying for Chelsea.”
