Jamie Redknapp wasn’t convinced Alvaro Morata could replace Diego Costa at Chelsea but after seeing the striker score seven goals already for Chelsea this season, Redknapp admits he has changed his opinion about Morata.
“Obviously when you lose Costa you are looking for someone to come in and make an instant impact,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“I wasn’t sure at the start, I must admit.
“I thought he wasn’t quite as physical, he hasn’t got that presence that Diego Costa possesses.
“But seven goals so far, that is a phenomenal start.
“Really good in the air and what I’ve liked in the last couple of games I’ve seen him play is he is starting to strike up a relationship with (Eden) Hazard.
“That was what I liked last year, with Costa and Hazard it was brilliant at times.
“Little one v ones, little bits of interchange that they had.
“I think those two, and I noticed it on Wednesday night (against Roma), it’s just interchanges and bits of skills, one-twos.”
