Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante enjoyed a wonderful season at Stamford Bridge last Premier League campaign having moved to Chelsea from Leicester City.
The French international was key for Chelsea as the Blues went on to win the Premier League title in Kante’s first season with the club and he was hailed by many for the way he marshalled the midfield.
So significant was Kante’s impact in the Chelsea team last season that he was named PFA and FWA Player of the Year, and he reflects on the achievement in the latest edition of Chelsea magazine.
“It was a special experience,” he told the magazine. “To add my name to the list of winners was a big honour. When you see the other winners, there are a lot of big players. I started as a boy and worked for a long time to become a professional, so to add my name to a list with those kinds of players was really, really good for me.
“To do a speech was a little bit difficult, in front of everyone – the writers, the players and to do that in English was a little bit more difficult, but I tried to choose simple words and thank everyone.”
