Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante suffered a hamstring injury against Bulgaria while on international duty with France.
The French international joins Alvaro Morata on the injury table after the striker pulled out of the game against Manchester City due to hamstring troubles as well.
For Kante, Chelsea are waiting to assess the severity of the hamstring injury sustained by the 26-year-old in France’s World Cup qualifying win in Bulgaria on Saturday but he’s expected to miss Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
There is positive news however for Morata who also has hamstring worries. At first it was feared that he’d be out until the latter part of November, as the Spanish medical team revealed that it would take up to six weeks for the Spaniard to recover from injury.
However, Chelsea have been encouraged by their assessments of the hamstring discomfort Morata experienced in the loss to Manchester City.
Chelsea’s medics have carried out tests and do not believe the injury is as serious as first feared. Although Morata is expected to sit out the game at bottom-placed Palace, there are hopes he could feature at home to Roma in their Champions League group game next week.
Chelsea also hope that Kante would return for the Champions League clash against Roma.
