Chelsea were below par in the 3-3 draw against Roma on Wednesday night, and the Blues had to seek a 3-3 draw despite being 2-0 up at a time in the game.

Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown was critical of a number of players, including Cesar Azpilicueta as he criticised their performances in the draw.

Keown doesn’t think Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta and Tiemoue Bakayako did their job well in the game, while also blaming David Luiz for failing to track the runs of Diego Perotti on some occasions.

“There were problems all over the pitch,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“Hazard and Morata were breathtaking on the break but defensively, Conte did not get much from the Belgian.

“Cesc Fabregas looked lost in midfield and Cesar Azpilicueta was running around chasing shadows.

“David Luiz was supposed to be the firefighter in midfield but he did not stop Diego Perotti from coming in from the left into a central position. In some games, Tiemoue Bakayoko has almost been a passenger.”

Keown then added that Conte needs to go back to the drawing board.

“Chelsea are crying out for a De Bruyne or Silva who will dominate play,” Keown added.

“Conte needs to go back to the drawing board and assess whether this system is working.”
