Alvaro Morata’s hamstring injury is worse than first feared with the 24-year-old striker now expected to be out injured for at least four weeks.

Morata limped off during Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday and he was expected to be fit for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace after the international break.

The Spanish FA confirmed on Monday that Morata suffered a grade two hamstring tear, which is worse than first feared.

Morata could miss two Champions League games against Roma and Premier League clashes against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Bournemouth.
