Chelsea boss Antonio Conte hit back at Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho on Wednesday following comments made by Mourinho after United’s win at Benfica.

Conte has been vocal about Chelsea’s injury crisis and Mourinho criticised coaches who “cry and cry and cry” about injuries after United’s win at Benfica.

Conte responded by saying: “A lot of time Mourinho has to see what happens at Chelsea.

“A lot of time, also last season. I think he has to think about his team and stop… to look at himself, not the others.”

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Conte was badly advised.

Scholes was asked if Mourinho had managed to get under Conte’s skin.

“It looks like he has done a little bit,” Scholes told Sky Sports.

“Conte was probably badly advised, someone told him they were talking about him but Mourinho didn’t mention anyone’s name. He just said ‘other managers’. Conte’s had a little bite back.

“November 5 [when Chelsea play Manchester United] could be interesting.”

  1. Having played the round leather game doesn’t equate to monopoly of proclamation of right or wrong.Mourinho talks more than he should especially things bordering on other clubs’ issues. He was woeful in his last season at Chelsea and so has no moral justification to say anything that reflects the current worries there.
I think Conte was right in his comments and better still put a “shut-up” performance at the bridge on Sunday. He was lucky the score didn’t reflect the dominance of Chelsea.
