Tiemoue Bakayoko’s ability to run with the run through midfield is a trait that scares opposition players according to Sky Sports pundit Alan Pardew.
Pardew made this remark while comparing Bakayoko with former Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Pardew also revealed Bakayoko has more energy and power than Matic but hasn’t got the ability to read the game like Matic.
“They are different,” Pardew said of Bakayoko and former Chelsea midfielder Matic while speaking to Sky Sports.
“The difference is Bakayoko has got more energy and more power than Matic.
“But what he hasn’t got is the ability to kind of read the situations.
“In these areas here he’s powerful, and when he’s running with the ball he scares you as a midfield player.
“He has this ability to get out of situations.
“But it’s just his reading of the game, particularly today, whether he will be as controlled as Matic, filling in when the back three gets split.
“But in these areas, this is why the Chelsea fans love him, he’s just got this energy and a way with the ball that makes him very, very important to how they play.
“This header last week (against Crystal Palace) was really impressive, a midfield player, that’s a centre-half header.
“That’s a big leap and a great finish.”
