A tactical change by Antonio Conte helped Chelsea take all three points against Watford at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra gave the Hornets a 2-1 lead just after the restart, but Chelsea responded very well as Antonio Conte decided to bring on Michy Batshuayi for Morata while also bringing on Willian in place of Marcos Alonso.
The changes gave Chelsea a new attacking impetus and Conte has been hailed for making the tweak that sparked a massive Chelsea attack towards the end of the game.
Conte told the media after the game: “Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. every coach during a game it is important to understand the situation to change.
“I am pleased for Michy, he scored two goals but his impact during the game was amazing. That was the same for Willian and Zappa. I was pleased for the performance of the players that changed.
“When you play 3 games in a row and it is the same players. You have to make an important decision. Sometimes it works or doesn’t. Today I was lucky.”
