Chelsea beat Everton 2-1 in the Carabao Cup fourth round clash at Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte handed starts to Kenedy, Charly Musonda, Ethan Ampadu and summer signing Danny Drinkwater who played his first game for Chelsea since moving Leicester City.
It was a good performance from the players, and Conte talked about the team’s overall performance after the game.
He said: “The performance was very good in the first half where we created chances to score. In the second half I think we suffered a bit, but it’s normal when you play against Everton.
“They are a good team and they have just changed the coach. This type of situation the players want to try and give more. It was a very dangerous game for us but I am very happy. I saw a lot of positive things, especially the young players.
“Charly Musonda, Kenedy and Ethan Ampadu played a good game. They deserve a chance and I am very happy because they gave me the answer I wanted. It was good to see Danny Drinkwater for the first time. We’re also waiting on N’Golo. It will be important to have the whole squad for the next games.”
