How else you can describe your season when you lose your captain (Gary Cahill, suspension), central midfielder (Cesc Fabregas suspension), Danny Drinkwater, calf injury, key defender (David Luiz; suspension), first-choice striker (Alvaro Morata) to a hamstring injury, and now key midfielder, N’golo Kante to a hamstring injury.
The omens are bad for Chelsea at the moment. Two defeats in seven games in the league and six points behind the Manchester clubs doesn’t bode well. To add salt to injury, the depletion of the squad won’t help the club’s cause to compete on all four fronts this season. The injury to Kante who pulled up in France World Cup qualifier is a big red flag for Chelsea. The danger of losing him means Chelsea will be short on numbers and will lack the dynamic displays of the French midfielder in potential games.
With this in mind, Conte’s job is becoming a herculean task and he would have to form a new winning partnership with the players at his disposal so that Chelsea don’t fall behind in the race for silverware.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
