Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger scored his first Chelsea goal in the 2-1 League Cup victory over Everton on Wednesday night.
Chelsea’s victory over Everton earned the Blues a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and Rudiger insists he doesn’t care who our next opponents would be.
“First of all, I am very, very happy we won the match and I could contribute to the result,” Rudiger said as quoted on Chelsea’s official website.
“I am very happy to score my first goal for Chelsea. The thing is, I didn’t see the ball because of the light. I was looking up. It was a good header but a bit of luck also as well.
“They had two or three chances, that’s it. We gave away the game a bit in the second half, Everton had more ball possession, and one time they scored but the important thing is we won.”
Rudiger also revealed everyone at the club is motivated to win the League Cup.
“You can win a trophy, so you have to be motivated. It was a big chance as well for young players like Ampadu, Musonda and Kenedy,” Rudiger said.
“Everyone has to be motivated and for our club this is the fastest way to win something, so we have to go for it.”
Chelsea will find out our opponents for the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup when the draw is made at 4pm UK time later today and Rudiger insists he doesn’t care who Chelsea gets.
“I don’t care; it can be anyone,” Rudiger added.
