Chelsea defender David Luiz has been deployed in midfield a couple of times for the Blues and was used to good effect in that role as Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-1 earlier in the season.
Luiz was also deployed in midfield late in the second-half against Atletico Madrid and Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that the Brazilian is an option in midfield, with N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater out injured.
Conte said: “We are talking also to adapt a player who for me is very important like central defenders because for me David is one of the best central defenders.
“If I can I prefer don’t change a lot also because you try and find a solution and you lose something with the defence but when I decided to utilise him in midfield against Tottenham and we played with three centre midfielders it could be an option if I decide to play with three central midfielders.
“But I don’t want to change a lot but if there is the necessity I am ready to do this but also to give an opportunity to young players like Ampadu or Kyle Scott.”
