Chelsea are away to Liverpool today, and former Blue Mohamed Salah has been the centre of attention with his form for Liverpool, having signed for the club during the summer transfer window.
However, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte isn’t bothered as he feels Alvaro Morata is in hot form as well. His eight goals so far place him joint-second in the Premier League scoring chart with only Liverpool’s Salah ahead with nine. Add assists made onto those totals and Morata moves ahead with 12 goals and assists combined, matched only by Manchester City’s Leroy Sane with six plus six, while Salah is one behind with 11 combined.
Conte said: “Morata is an important player for us. To try to do what I want is very important, and in our system of play the striker is very important for us and for this reason, he is always involved in our chances and sometimes he scored and sometimes he makes an assist for his team-mate.
“To play in this league for the striker is not simple because the league is very tough and also it is very different compared with the previous leagues that Morata has played in Italy and in Spain, but he has shown a great commitment and to be a clever person to adapt himself to this league.
“Salah’s start is impressive because he is scoring lot of goals and he makes a lot of assists,” acknowledged Conte, “and his start was very positive. The most important thing is Alvaro was the same and I think for my team and for me it was very important to have an impressive start in this league.”
