Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater was in the news for declining a chance to team up with the England national team for the friendly games against Germany and Brazil.

Drinkwater has been criticised for the decision as he chose to remain with the club and recover from his injury.

Conte was asked about Drinkwater’s decision, and he thinks the 27-year-old made the right call.

Conte said: “No, I don’t think so. He was very honest. During the game against United he took a knock on his calf, and after the game he had to do a training session to recover the best form, and instead he stopped himself to try and have treatment and to recover.

“Only this week he started to work with us again. It means that the player was clear, was intelligent. I don’t understand why we have to try always to find a problem.”
