Chelsea made a round trip of 5000 miles to face Azerbaijan side Qarabag in the Champions League group C clash on Wednesday night.

Chelsea won the game 4-0 to progress to the next round of the competition, but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has voiced his displeasure of having to play Liverpool just three days after such a long trip.

He told the media that he isn’t happy with the situation but won’t try to make any excuse. He said: “I think we must be ready to play a big game against Liverpool. I don’t like to give an alibi or excuse, it is the same for my players. We must be ready to play a big game. It won’t be easy. At the same time we have to do our best.”

He then revealed that there was a problem with the flight, but everything went on fine. He explained: “It was a problem to land [due to wind]. I think to get to your house at 6am is not simple and then to rest and recover, only one day to prepare is not right. We have to do this. Today we had a good training session and tried to prepare for Liverpool very well. To have only one day to prepare and rest is not right for all, not only Chelsea. All the teams.”

Asked if the players were jaded, Conte said: “I think we must be ready to play a big game against Liverpool. I don’t like to give an alibi or excuse, it is the same for my players. We must be ready to play a big game. It won’t be easy. At the same time we have to do our best.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
