Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has had his fair share of injury troubles this season, and former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has hailed Chelsea’s most expensive signing for a good start to the season. And Murphy has also revealed his fears about Morata’s injury worries and if he can stay fit for Chelsea all through the season.
“Alvaro Morata has made a great start to life at Chelsea but he needs to show he has the physical capacity to stay on the pitch week after week,” Murphy explained to the Evening Standard.
“During Morata’s spells with Real Madrid and Juventus, he was hampered by niggling injuries at different times.
“He has already had a hamstring problem since joining Chelsea, though it caused him to miss only one full game.
“The pressure on Morata to stay fit is greater because it is clear that Antonio Conte does not really trust Michy Batshuayi.
“Whereas other clubs chasing the title have alternatives to their main striker, Chelsea are reliant on Morata, just as they were on Diego Costa.
“We will see over time whether he can become more consistent in this respect but you cannot argue with his quality.”
