Chelsea defender David Luiz was entirely left out of the squad that defeated Manchester United yesterday at Stamford Bridge.

Reports suggest there has been a bust-up between the Brazilian and Antonio Conte after the 3-0 loss to Roma.

Joey Barton however thinks that such a situation usually leads to an exit from either the manager or the player.

He told talkSPORT: “Clearly it’s not a question of ability with Conte, I think he’s taken him out because of something that’s been said.

“Banished from the training ground, left in the stands. Usually when that happens it’s a race now to see who lasts the longest.

“Whether you can outstay the manager as a player or you’ll be sold. If Conte gets to January, I expect Luiz to be shipped out.”

I don’t agree with you Barton; it won’t get to that stage.
