Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been the name on the lips of many after an impressive display against Germany in the friendly game held at the Wembley Stadium last Friday.
It was the Chelsea youngster’s debut for the England senior team at the age of 21, but he couldn’t continue his outstanding performance in the game against Brazil on Tuesday as he picked up an injury and was taken off in the first-half of the game.
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes that Loftus-Cheek’s lack of playing time is the reason why he wasn’t able to complete the two matches in close proximity, while Marcus Rashford who’s only 20 can do so.
“If you have seen the likes of Marcus Rashford, that robustness is now there because he has had about 18 months, two years of playing top level football,” Giggs said.
“Loftus-Cheek just hasn’t had that, so when you have got the high of Friday night and then you have got to do it again on Tuesday, it’s tough if your body isn’t ready for it.
“He has not done it at the top level for a long period of time, but hopefully the injury isn’t too bad.”
