Chelsea defender David Luiz didn’t make the matchday squad to face Manchester United on Sunday evening at Stamford, but the team still did well in his absence and defeated United 1-0 in a very assuring display.
Much has been said about Conte’s decision, but N’Golo Kante thinks it’s the right one, as he stresses the importance of the squad to be rotated.
Speaking after the game, the Frenchman stressed the importance for rotation and called on fringe players to step up when they are needed.
“We have a lot of players in the squad and the manager makes the choices,” Kante was quoted as saying by the Express in the wake of the 1-0 win on Sunday.
“These are things to keep. We have a lot of players squad and we need to use everyone.”
Kante who has been out for a month also admitted that he missed playing and is looking to get his confidence back as his one month absence from action was quite difficult for him.
“I need more confidence because when you play after this injury, you have some fear,” he admitted.
“But with one week’s training, and this game, I have more confidence. I’m happy to be back.
“It was a long time for me to be out. I prefer to play. It is more stressful when you cannot play. It is strange to be outside. It’s another point of view.
“You are a spectator, you cannot help, you just wish the best to your team mates.”
