Dominic Solanke is a Chelsea academy product, but the former Blue now plays for Liverpool after letting his contract wind out at Stamford Bridge and refusing to sign an extension with the Blues.

The 20-year-old who was highly rated by the Chelsea staff made only one substitute appearance for Chelsea and was sent on loan to Vitesse Arnhem.

Chelsea have been criticised for sending out youngsters on loan, but Solanke has admitted that it’s a good opportunity for the youngsters.

“It helps you as a young player, going out and seeing a different [type of] football and culture ” he said.

“I think that can only help playing men’s football when you are young. I think that helped me.”

Solanke was invited by England boss Gareth Southgate and could feature in England’s friendly game tonight against Brazil.
