Danny Drinkwater started for Chelsea for the second time in the league this season in the 3-1 win over Newcastle.

The 27-year-old started in midfield alongside Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante, and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was happy with his performance.

The Chelsea manager said: “Today he started the game like the team, a bit slow, but then improved a lot.

“It’s great for me and the team to have another option, especially when we play with three midfielders.

“To have another option is vitally important.”
