Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been hailed for giving Andreas Christensen a chance to play for the first team this season after his two-year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.
Conte insists every player can break into the first team if they put in good performances.
When asked if a player can break into the first team by putting in good performances, Conte said: “This is normal. I hope to have this type of problem.
“As you know very well, I don’t like before to take a decision from the starting XI if a player plays or not. The last part of the barrier I look at is their head. ‘You don’t play because I see you are this player and big name’. It’s not my idea of football.
“I like to make the best decision from what I see in training or the games. If you deserve to play, you play.
“Christensen is only 21 and you ask me why Chelsea don’t play young players? Christensen deserves to play and he is a fantastic prospect for the present and future.”
